Fig. 1. Connections Window.
| Connect | Clicking this button will connect you to the selected server. |
| Edit | You can change your identity (nickname, username, 'real name' and IRC server) by clicking this button. |
| Nick | You can change your nick with this button. The 'Nick'-button is only available to you if you are already connected to a server. |
| Disconnect | Disconnects you from the server. Ircle will try a graceful close. You can force an immediate close by holding the Option key while clicking this button. When you are on channels while you click this button, ircle will ask for a quit message. |
| Server | You can choose/add another server. The serverlist will show up. |
Fig. 2. Editing a connection setup.
| Server | If you want to select a different server from you serverlist or add a new server, click on the 'server'-button. You will get a new window with the serverlist where you can choose a server. |
| Nickname | Most people use a nickname instead of their real name on irc. In the nickname field you can enter your nickname. Your nickname is normally up to 9 characters. Some irc servers accept longer nicknames (such as Dalnet). |
| Username | Username name can be anything you like. However, some servers do require that you use your real accountname (your login-name of your internet account). Using another username than your real accountname can result in a rejection by the server. Mostly this is a policy of that particular network that the server is connected to, and connecting to a different server of that network won't solve the problem. |
| Password | You can leave this blank. You only have to fill in your password here, if you want to connect to a server that requires a password. |
| Real name | You can fill in anything you like. This information can be seen by other users, so please be careful with private/personal information like e-mailaddress or your real name. |
| Auto connect to server | Check this checkbox if you want Ircle to automatically connect you to the server on startup. |
| Invisible | Check this checkbox if you want to be invisible to other users. If you are invisible only the people who know your nick and the people who are on the same channel as you are, are able to see you. |
| WALLOPS | Wallops are public messages between IRC Operators (server administrators). You are able to see those messages by checking this checkbox. |
| Receive server messages | If you want to receive low level server messages, check this checkbox. |
